Palace Station Casino

By  |

The Palace Station Las Vegas was the first of the Station Casinos properties to be constructed, dating from 1976, which perhaps makes it “Vegas-old” (in a city of impermanence that must keep renewing itself) but not all that old. It is located off the Strip on the north end. Therefore, you’ll have to do a little traveling to reach the Strip but it’s still close enough that you can visit the attractions without difficulty. See just where they are on Google Maps.

This is a lesser-known vintage spot, by no means one of the ultra-famous ones of the city. In fact, most of the people that you’ll see staying here are locals. The rooms aim at comfort, not luxury, and the décor is not extravagant but they are clean and relaxing. You will also notice that this hotel stays very busy. So what brings so many of the locals to this particular spot? It has a lot to do with its casino.

Palace Station Casino

The floor is of middling size, covering approximately 84,000 square feet, but it’s all gaming action. Some may even say it’s the best action found in Vegas but that will depend on what you’re searching for. They do have a wide selection of games that will suit most any gambler whether you’re a seasoned player or new to gaming.

Table Games

Throughout  the room, you’ll find about 44 gaming tables to choose from that includes variations of Blackjack, Roulette, Craps, Pai Gow Tiles, Pai Gow Poker and Fortune Pai Gow Progressive. You can also play several variations of Baccarat that include Mini Baccarat and Panda Bets.

The Palace Station Hotel prides itself on having the most diverse collection of both Baccarat and Pai Gow games in the city. It’s one of the things that earn them attention. Many casinos have a few tables dedicated to these games but if you really want to experience everything they have to offer, a trip here should be on your agenda.

Pit 8 Tableside Dining is a great feature that you’ll love about this location. They offer two different menus depending on the time of day you order. Anything that you order will be brought to your table so you can eat while you play. If you’re a qualified player, you can enjoy a complimentary meal.

Keno Lounge

The Keno area seats about 20 people and one dollar will get you in a game. The Lounge is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and you’ll find it near the Grand Café. And there are always two games of keno going on at any given time. These are called the Gold games and the Fastball games.

Gold games are considered the regular version, and about 10 games take place every hour. While you can play this version in the Keno lounge, you can also find a couple of tables on the casino floor if all the tables in the lounge are filled. You can also watch these games in your room by turning to channel 16.

Fastball games are the quicker version, averaging about 100 games per hour. This version is available only in the lounge so you should try to grab a seat when they become available if you’re interested in trying it. You can play special Fastball for as little as a penny on 1,000-game multi-race tickets if you’re playing the Five & Dime Pay Table. You can watch these games in your room by turning to channel 17.

Palace Station Bingo

If you prefer a more laid-back game, you may want to stroll on over to the Bingo Hall, which can seat a little over 300 people. The Hall is open 7 days a week and each Bingo session starts every odd hour throughout the day. For example, the first session starts at 9am and the last one begins at 11pm.

With so many different sessions available each day, you should be able to find the time to work in a nice game of Bingo during your stay. The jackpots for these games are larger than you might expect, which gives you an added incentive to come try your luck.

Poker Room

The poker room is open 24 hours a day and was recently renovated to give it a more modern and relaxing environment. It even has plasma TVs covering the walls to help keep you entertained. If you are a big poker fan, regardless of what your favorite game is, you should find a table that matches your needs here.

There are nine tables available that offer gamblers a chance to get in on some of the best Texas Hold’em, Omaha, 5 Card Stud and Let it Ride games on-Strip or off. This non-smoking poker room is famous throughout the city and it draws in a lot of visitors.

Slots and Video Poker

If you’re a fan of slot machines and/or video poker and most people are, then you’re definitely covered here because they have over 1,600 machines to choose from that include penny slots to progressive games like Wheel of Fortune and Megabucks. They offer Triple Play and Bonus Poker along with its own Station-created video poker game called Reversible Royals.

While you play slots or video poker, you can enjoy premium drinks from the bar right at your machine. Servers are always available and walking around to take your request.

Sportsbook and Horse Racing

If you enjoy betting on sports or races, you’ll probably fall in love with the Sportsbook and Horse Racing area. Here, you’ll find some of the most popular and some not so well-known sports and racing events held each year. This Sportsbook room has more than 40 TVs and 230 seats where you can relax and enjoy the action while waiting for the results to come in.

You’ll be able to place wagers on all of your major sporting events like NBA, NHL and of course NFL along with their college counterparts. You can also place wagers on professional Horse Races and NASCAR and bets are placed between 8am and 11pm daily.

Entertainment at Palace Station Las Vegas

The casino does have some forms of entertainment. One of the most famous is the live music you can enjoy at Jack’s Irish Pub Thursday through Saturday and a Happy Hour that starts at 3pm. It’s a great place to have a few drinks, watch sports and socialize. There are several other bars to choose from, too or you can check out the Louie Anderson Theater and enjoy a few laughs at what very well could be the hottest comedy club around.

Dining

No matter what you’re in the mood for, you’ll find a great dining experience at one of the many restaurants. You can choose between a fine dining experience at the The Broiler Restaurant or a more casual dining experience like the one you’ll find at Grand Café, Cabo Mexican Restaurant and the Food Express Chinese.

Other options include Pasta Cucina, Feast Buffet and the Oyster Bar. If you’re more interested in grabbing something to eat while on the go, check out Bonanno’s Pizzeria, Subway, Starbucks or Johnny Rockets.

Extras

The resort offers The Boarding Pass Guest Rewards Program, which has a lot of perks for guests. You can become a member for free and you can use the rewards that you earn at any of the properties owned by Station Casinos.

Overall, this hotel has one of the best casinos with many exciting things for guests to enjoy whether you’re on vacation or live in the area. It may not be on-Strip but some visitors may find that to be an advantage, depending on what type of experience you want to have. When you’re searching for affordable rooms and amazing gambling action all in one place, you may want to learn more about this chain.
