One of the top favorite attractions of the city is the Stratosphere Hotel Las Vegas, and also one of the most recognized buildings. It’s considered a very affordable place to stay, it has several thrill rides for adventurous souls and it’s a good place for families to vacation.

With the Tower getting so much attention, you don’t hear as much about the actual hotel.

Stratosphere Las Vegas Rooms

The guest rooms are not the main attraction so they don’t have any extraordinary theme that grabs you right from the start but they are comfortable.

They’re also some of the cleanest rooms you’ll find in all of Vegas. The Stratosphere Select features 900 modern rooms that have undergone remodeling and they include the standard amenities you would expect for guest accommodations, such as flat screen TVs and safes.

The Guestrooms are spacious and many of them have spectacular views of the mountains or the Strip depending on which side you’re on. These rooms have either a king-sized bed or two queen-sized beds. Each of the guestrooms offers a little something extra.

For example, the Pool Level Premier rooms are close to the Level 8 Pool and the Tower Premier rooms have a panoramic view of the mountains and the Las Vegas valley. If you upgrade to the Luxury Oversized Studio, you may get a room with oversized double windows and a dry bar.

The Luxury Grand Suites have plenty of space with a separate living room, dining area and a wet bar. The Strip View Star Suite has an entrance made of marble, spa tub and a separate shower. The Luxury Tower Suites can accommodate up to six people comfortably, and the Oasis Suite, with its Roman tub, separate shower and refrigerator, is a good honeymoon suite.

The Premier Suites are luxurious and spacious with about 2,165 square feet of space and the VIP Suite has about 1,550 square feet of space. These include a very nice dining room and they both have two living rooms with sofas. A “wet bar”, kitchen area complete with refrigerator and a full bath with powder room are also included.

Las Vegas Stratosphere Tower and Rides

The 1,149 foot tall Stratosphere Tower stands high in the Vegas sky. It’s the tallest freestanding observation tower found anywhere in the United States. From the top of this tower, you have an incredible panoramic view of the city. This tourist attraction is one of the most famous in Las Vegas.

Along with the view, the Tower has four exciting rides for guests but they’re not for everyone. These rides are designed for thrill-seekers. Since the rides may be a little too exciting for some, there is an indoor observation deck where you can watch others ride.

The Big Shot is the world’s highest thrill ride and it shoots you 160 feet into the air at an amazing speed of 45 miles per hour. The Insanity takes you 64 feet out over the side of the tower where you’ll hover 900 feet above the ground. The ride will then spin you around and tilt you at a 70-degree angle where you’re facing straight down.

The X Scream propels you off the towers edge headfirst and leaves you “teeter tottering” in the sky for a few seconds. It will then pull you back in and send you out over the edge again. The newest ride is the SkyJump. This ride is 108 floors high and you’ll jump off a platform for the most thrilling free fall ever. The X Scream is the highest controlled jump in the world and one of the scariest.

Hotel Extras

The resort provides handicap accessible rooms with roll-in showers or tub/shower combos with rails. They also include lower peepholes, light switches and closets that are accessible by wheelchairs. You can request a bed shaker, TDD device, shower chairs and you can also request door and alarm clock monitors.

They offer both smoking and non-smoking rooms, complimentary valet parking, around-the-clock security and they even have a Budget Rent-A-Car desk in the lobby to make things more convenient.

The Pool Area

The Level 8 Pool is located on the eighth floor (naturally). This outside pool has a huge 67,000 square foot deck. It has an amazing view since its high above the ground unlike the traditional pool areas. It also has a café and bar where you can get snacks and a hot tub where you can relax in style.

You can give Bikini Blackjack a try or play water volleyball for entertainment when you don’t want to swim. Certain days throughout the summer months, they have resort pool parties that can be very fun and entertaining. There are also cabanas available for rent if you prefer your privacy.

Things to Do

The Roni Josef spa offers a relaxing environment where you can restore you mind and body to prepare for a new day. The total skin and body care treatments includes foot care, facials and body treatments that will melt the cares of the day away. They also offer holistic and therapeutic massages for men and women.

The fitness room is a great place to work out with cardio and strength-training equipment. They have TVs and music to help make your workout more enjoyable. Unlike many of the other Las Vegas hotel casinos, the fitness center is free to guests and it’s open 24 hours a day.

On the second floor of the main building, you’ll find a shopping mall with 32 shops in all. These include several specialty shops , novelty shops and clothing stores. Final Thoughts on the Stratosphere Hotel

There are many things to enjoy here. The rooms are spacious and comfortable with all the necessary amenities and more. On top of that, they are some of the most affordable rooms on the Vegas Strip. This hotel has a nice casino and the astounding tower is one of the world’s most well known attractions. The four rides make this hotel much like a mini amusement park and there are several forms of entertainment and restaurants to enjoy.

The main complaint that guests have is that it’s located all the way on the northern end of the Strip. For this reason, it’s a long ways from the main action that takes place mid-Strip. However, when you consider that you’re only a short cab ride away and the amount of money that you’ll be saving in accommodations, it may not be a big deal.

If you’re traveling as a family, it’s a good choice because of the lower rates for a room and because there are actually things for the kids to do while at the hotel. Overall, it seems to be one of the best options in Vegas and it comes highly recommended.
